The association "Les Amis de la Maison Vauban" (The Friends of Vauban House) was created in 1980 by some inhabitants of Saint Léger Vauban, all admirers of the life and work of Vauban. They organised a first exhibition in 1980 in a former classroom of the village, and their role was greatly significant in the creation of what is now the museum, in a traditional Morvan house on the village square.

The museum offers three documented rooms, along with a 20 minutes audio-visual (English and German versions available)

Some 150 people have joined the association from all over the world.

The other purpose of the association is to publish writings by Vauban or about Vauban, whose life and works are scarcely known.
